How can I pay?

We prefer UK Visa and Master cards, because these have the lowest processing costs for our members. However, we can accept a number of credit cards, both domestic (UK) and international, as well as Apple Pay. If you have the option, select to pay in British Pounds.

How do I make changes to my registration?

In case you need to make changes to your registration details, please email sscleconference@gmail.com as soon as possible. Put “registration change” in the subject line.

Will I get a refund if I need to cancel?

In case you need to cancel your registration, please email sscleconference@gmail.com as soon as possible. Your paid amount minus the exchange commission and the card payment transaction fee will be returned to your credit card. Refunds are not possible after 1 June 2026. The Society will only refund conference registration but no other cost related to the attendee’s travel such as transport or accommodation. Please consider taking out travel insurance if you seek additional guarantees.

What if the conference is cancelled?

Can I bring someone?

Yes, you can bring a guest. If a guest only wants to attend social events, please register them as ‘guest.’ If they want to listen to papers (other than the host’s) and enjoy the conference lunches and coffee, please register them separately so they have their own attendee profile.

Will there be social events?

Of course! A welcome reception and conference dinner are included in you registration, as well as a day trip to Tomar (subsidised by the SSCLE). In addition, you can buy tickets for a boat trip on the Duoro and a visit to the port cellars in Porto. See the schedule and the conference website for more information.

What will you do with my information?

We only collect data for the purpose of organising this conference, but some data will be used by credit card companies and our online platform. Please see Terms and Conditions for further details.

How does my donation help?

All donations will be used to augment the Bernard Hamilton Bursary Fund, which supports students and colleagues with low or no income.
